Forgoten Paradise

I spent a wonderful week in Doberai with a group of diving friends in April. The place is so beautiful and tranquil that one gets the impression that the world is still in order. There is no noise of any sort apart from the sounds of jungle and gentle singing of the waves. It is a perfect place to disconnect and focus on the beauty which surrounds you above as well as under water.
The huts are simple, cooled just by the breeze. The place is so remote and safe that we had the doors constantly opened on one side to the island and on the other to the porch facing the bay. I don’t think that you will find many nicer spots to enjoy your evening pipe while watching sunset as on the porch of Doberai’s hut. The water in the shower is of a room temperature and has got a good pressure. It is a touch fresher than the one in the sea; just enough to wash the itchy salt of the skin, so what more does one need?
The power is on every day from 6 pm till midnight, sufficient for charging ones computer and camera. It doesn’t make much sense to charge your phone, because the coverage is limited only to few spots with in the resort. From time to time there is a Wi-Fi access to the internet in the restaurant area, but buying a ticket on line will test your patience and determination. The limited connection with the outside world just adds to the charm of the place.
The owner ibu Rica and all her staff are super friendly and hospitable. The dive masters will be constantly pointing out things to you that you have been looking at but didn’t see. Sea horses, frog fish, little shrimps, wobbegongs, just name it and they will find it for you in the numerous dive sites of Raya Ampat. The staff in the resort will be very helpful and resourceful if you decide to take a break from diving and go for an island hopping trip or will want to try to see the Birds of paradise on the neighbouring island in the very early morning hours.
If you like to have a drink or two when chilling out after dives just bring your own supplies. There is only Bintang available in the resort and the 90.000 rupiah for a can might somewhat disturb your tranquillity.
The food is plentiful and the kitchen staff really tries their best to satisfy the taste buds of your palate, but you cannot expect the variety of a city high street. The menu is based on the limited ingredients available in that part of the archipelago.
The diving gear, as well as the sea kayaks are available to the guests during their stay, but it is advisable to notify the resort about required sizes well before your arrival. You will be able to see baby sharks and spotted rays just as you walk on the elevated passages from your hut to the restaurant at the other end of the beach. During high tide you can jump to the turquoise water straight from the porch of your hut and snorkel above breath taking corrals.
The stay in Doberai is a gentle return to the womb of virgin nature at the price of stay in five star hotel. The main characteristics of the entire Raja Ampat are the high prices and complicated accessibility, but maybe that’s why the place is still unspoiled and the underwater world is so rich.
If I ever have the time and means to go back to Raya Ampat, I will definitely stay in Doberai Eco Resort again.

“Paradise!!”

We stayed there for about 5 nights, and it was absolutely amazing, most definitely paradise. Doberai Eco Resort have an island of their own, one that is sooo relaxing and really helps you unwind. Their beaches are very clean, and untouched, especially the beach on the island where the resort is. The coral as well just around the Urai island was soo untouched, so clean and beautiful you could see all the coral just from kayaking. The purpose of my trip was for diving, but even just snorkeling around JB’s park was absolutely amazing. They also have another snorkeling site with giant corals that look like roses, and even that is good enough. As well as that the diving in general was absolutely breathtaking!! Our dive masters were so helpful and pointed out so many things like for us we saw 3 manta rays, 10 devil rays, at least 15 sharks just diving, school of parrot fish, and much much more. The resort can also take you to many places like the mushroom islands, sand banks and more for an affordable price. Also the food was really quite good, a lot of fish and chicken for dinner and lunch, very simple indonesian dishes but the food was good. But despite this my favorite part of the food they had were the snacks they gave us everyday, which was kind of like our tea time and the food they gave us were traditional Indonesian cakes which were delicious. Furthermore, our rooms were very simple, they had a water dispenser for clean drinking water and a shelf for clothes, and a bed or 2 or maybe more depending on how many people are staying in a room. There was no aircon and the power was only for about 6-8 hours from 6pm-12am. But there was really no need for aircon because we spent most of our time in the water during the day, and at night there was a nice breeze that came from the ocean. Every morning we woke to a beautiful island view and clear blue waters, absolutely breathtaking and the best way to wake up each morning, and a lot of the time by the restaurant area or just around our rooms there were baby reef sharks, and baby stingrays that just swam around. The shower was a traditional Indonesian shower, which wasn’t so bad, it helped conserve water, and was fine and helped you refresh each night before you went to sleep because the water was cold but refreshing. The staff and owners of the resort were very friendly and really made us feel like we were family when we were staying, I truly did not want to leave. I really recommend this resort for whoever wants to enjoy it, and if you’re worried about no aircon, there is no need because along with this beautiful traditional top of water resort that I stayed at, the owners are building a new side to the resort with air conditioning, a normal shower, and much more. I really hope I can come back to the Doberai Eco Resort someday and once again really recommend it for anyone.

“Incredible”

Far away from the bustle of the city, Doberai Eco Resort is a beautiful exotic place where me and my colleges stayed at a beach bungalow only an hour away from the nearest town. A lovely and unforgettable place where we can still see nature at it’s best, with clear sea water, white sandy beach, numerous school of fishes, an uncountable number of multicolored corals, and a breathtaking view of the ocean these are but a few out of many surprises that Doberai Eco Resort’s have to offer. Doberai Eco Resort is an adventurous place simply by trekking through the island or finding sea shells by the beach. An unforgettable experience and adventure waiting for you to discover.

AMAZING Place

Deborai Eco Resort is wonderfull place to enjoy the nature. So many kind of
fishes and birds. the place we can swim, fishing, snoorkeling and diving. We also can take a beautiful photograph. The Beach its very clear and clean. Its the best place at raja ampat. I will be back as soon as.

“It is really a paradise”

I am a diving instructor

I have dived in almost 90% dive sites in Indonesia, and I can’t agree more that Raja Ampat is simply the best.

But the thing that makes Raja Ampat more special is that Raja Ampat can be enjoyed not only by divers, but non diver can also enjoy it even better, since Raja Ampat has the most spectacular above the water view.

Doberai Eco resort is an eco resort that could show and apply perfectly what Eco resort means. It occupies an undoubtedly beautiful 70 ha island solely. It is really a paradise. The management is still new but able to deliver excellent wholeheartedly services to their guesses.

For sure, I shall go back there asap.

“One with nature…”

Nothing is better than being one with nature. Doberai Eco Resort is located in such secluded part of the archipelago offering nothing but pristine nature. Without the risks of extreme elements, it is protected on all sides by picturesque islands, with glass like calm reflecting waters. In the morning, you will be greeted by the amazing birds singing of various species, then step out on to the terrace welcomed by the schools of fish just below, the floating villas are exceptionally comfortable. And of course Raja Ampat is world class dive paradise, which is the big bonus. The friendly staff treats you like family, offering only the best of service, the owner Mr. Aswad is extremely kind, informative, and embrace nature. But the best part about Doberai, it is definetly a value for money destination.

“Eden”

The doberai Eco Resort is one of the best place on earth, that’s why I called this Resort is like eden on earth. Is very hard to discribe the beauty and amazing place is the Resort. I think the most interesting one is the price, Service, the locations also the view. I’ve been travelling a Lot of places for the past five years. But this trip to doberai Eco Resort is very amaze all of us. We really enjoy our time at this Resort and can’t wait to come back. Is very hard to discribe it. I just recomend to all the my friends to go to this place. I bet that you guys gonna love it AS Much AS we do.

“heaven on earth”

What an amazing place this earth is, after spending a few days at Doberai resort, I now have a different view of how a resort can be in harmony with nature…
A true eco resort, both the facilities and nature truly highlight each other. But what really makes a difference is the experience of staying in a place where the staff and specifically the owner go out of their way to make your stay more pleasant. We were indulged with the beauty of nature, from the comfort of our water bungalow. The view surrounding the resort is truly spectacular, if you want to experience a secluded island with the comfort of your own home, then Doberai resort is the place for you….

“amazing paradise..wow!!”

Spending a week in my vacation last month in Raja Ampat Doberai Eco Resort felt like being in a another part of paradise, extremely peaceful, serene, tranquil and intact.

Don’t mention about all sea and beach activities, just by lying down on the sun deck which is the terrace of the cottages, it really released all of my burdens in this life.

Staffs’ resort are highly friendly and know what they are doing. The package system that they apply made us comfortable since we only spent once, and it covered all activities already, really nice and convenient.

“A truly heaven on earth!!”

Spending a whole week to celebrate my birthday there with my friends was an amazing time ever!! I could say that this is the best 17th birthday ever! No need big parties because Raja Ampat already gave me a big shot. Especially the island, Urai Island, it’s extremely indescribable! Doberai Eco Resort itself has a really great resort. It’s a comfy place, peaceful, and for me it’s full of joy. It feels like home. We can see a good view from the terrace of the resort.
The staffs are very enjoyable and kind. They served their guests like a real king. Not to mention, the chef in this resort managed to make my tongue shaking for goodness! The foods are all have an amazing taste, every one of them. The package that they gave to me was really interesting and so satisfying. Well, I’m out of words and I can’t lie, this is the best trip ever, and it will always be! Can’t wait to spend another time there!
